Until recently, Vitry was one of the most famous reed knife manufacturers. Rigotti now provides us with this excellent copy. The metal is soft and very tough, meaning that even though the edge may be quickly lost, it can be regained just as quickly with only light sharpening to “point up” the burr, using the “Three-Step Method of Sharpening” as found on page 20 of The Reed Maker’s Manual.
