Description

These are specially formulated surfacing compounds that are used with the Shapton Lapping Plate when lapping. Each of the three powders corresponds to the grit level of the stones. There are Coarse, Medium, and Fine powders.

• Coarse Surfacing Compound – for lapping #120-#900 grit stones
• Medium Surfacing Compound – for lapping #1,000 – #4,000 grit stones
• Fine Surfacing Compound – for lapping #5,000 – #30,000 grit stones.

Lapping is an important step in sharpening because it keeps the stone from getting arches, which translates into an uneven edge.
